🗺️ 14 — Farm Expansion
Farm expansion is the long-term strategic layer of the farm system. Players unlock new zones as they level up, each adding more land, new building slots, and new crop/animal opportunities.

🏗️ The Greenhouse
The Greenhouse is a special enclosed zone that:
- Ignores all seasonal effects (crops grow at base speed year-round)
- Required for: Vanilla (Lv.35), Saffron (Lv.50), Truffle (Lv.60), Exotic Orchid (Lv.70)
- Has its own separate grid (12×8 tiles, expandable)
- Costs extra to maintain: 200 FT/week upkeep (can be waived by Botanist)
- Visually distinct: glass building with interior lighting

🐝 The Apiary Zone
A dedicated area for beehives:
- Bees auto-graze on nearby Lavender and Sunflower plots
- Honey quality scales with proximity to bee-food crops
- Lavender within 5 tiles: +10% honey quality
- Sunflower within 5 tiles: +5% honey quality, +10% beeswax
- Multiple hive clusters can be placed in the apiary
🦌 The Deer Range
The largest single animal zone:
- Requires 4×4 per deer
- Natural terrain features (trees, water feature) boost Deer Happiness
- Rare Leather and Velvet products go directly to Luxury Fashion tier
- Only accessible with Zone 10 unlocked at Lv.80
💰 Zone Expansion Costs
Zones can be unlocked either by:
1. Leveling up and paying coins/FT (standard)
2. Instant unlock with Cash (costs 10–30 Cash depending on zone)
💡 Design Note: Players are never required to expand quickly. All farm zones are bonus content — the base Zones 0–3 provide ample space for casual play through Level 30+.
🗺️ Farm Layout Customisation
Within each zone, players freely arrange:
- Crop plots (any size: 1×1 to 4×4)
- Animal pens (fixed size per species)
- Processing buildings (2×2 to 4×4)
- Decorative elements (fences, trees, paths)
- Worker paths (auto-generated based on building placement)
Layout Score
The game calculates a Layout Efficiency Score based on:
- Worker path length between buildings
- Distance from barn to processing buildings
- Distance from processing to supply lane
- % of available tiles used
Higher efficiency = more goods processed per hour with the same number of workers.
